METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT
GENERAL SERVICES
These include:
a) Daily weather forecast
b) Individual request for weather information for specific functions
eg. Public /private sector institutions and corporate bodies
c) Meteorological Information to the public /private sector
institutions and corporate bodies
PROCEDURE:
- Apply in writing to the Director (MSD) state the specific
information/data required, duration and purpose or fax, or phone
or call in person
- Divisional head searches for relevant information/data ( one
to two working days)
- MSD sends information/data to applicant through post, personal
delivery, or electronic mail
a) Daily Weather Forecast:
We provide information on weather situation on daily basis. This
is either through the print or electronic mail
b) Individual Request:
Weather information for specific functions either for an outdoor
meetings. You may fax, phone or write us stating period or area.
c) Public/Private Sector Institutions of Companies:
We provide information to agencies/institutions/organizations/and
social services facilities providers (NGOs) etc. Forestry, Game
and Wildlife, Industries, Agriculture, Health, Tourism and management
of dams and water sources etc.
AGENCIES PUBLIC/PRIVATE SECTOR
We provide information to the public/private sector and NGOs
that are in the business of harnessing water for agriculture drinking
(bore holes) cattle rearing and fish pond development. Others
are:

GENERAL INFORMATION
- MSD provides services on individual basis to farmers, research
institutions and other private and public agencies. Charges
are levied depeding on information sought and if required for
profit making venture.
- MSD givesi early warning forecasts of changing weather conditions
eg. Imminent storm, wind (hurricanes)
- Provide Agro-meteorological Bulletin and other meteorological
publications.
- MSD provides advisory services to the general public environmental
issues eg. Bush fires, the ozone layer etc.
- Consultancy Services
- We are committed to ensuring timely and efficient delivery
of services as per our given time frames. Should there be delays
or any complaints, contacts the Client Services Unit.
- We offer meteorological information /data for sale
CLEINT SERVICES UNIT
All Client Services Unit have been established in the MSD to
redress quickly grievances and problems of customers, clients
and stakeholders in whatever form it is presented.
