Celebrating 50 years of World Weather Watch

Each year, on 23 March, the World Meteorological Organization, its 191 Members and the worldwide meteorological community celebrate World Meteorological Day around a chosen theme. This day commemorates the entry into force, on that date in 1950, of the WMO Convention creating the Organization. Subsequently, in 1951, WMO was designated a specialized agency of the United Nations System.

Accra, Oct. 31, 2012 GNA – The Regional Institute of Population Studies (RIPS), University of Ghana, is to organize a High National Level Policy Dialogue on Coastal Climate Change Risks in Urban Areas in Accra on November 8, 2012. The dialogue is under the theme: “A Climate Change Risk Communication Framework for Coastal Urban Development Policy,” aims at promoting the use of climate change risks factors as basis for integrating climate compatible developments and policy processes within Ghana’s coastal zones. Minister inaugurates 4 million dollar Obuasi Airport

Obuasi, Aug 29, GNA - The Minister of Transport, Alhaji Collins Dauda yesterday inaugurated a four million dollar airport built by AngloGold Ashanti at Obuasi. The airport, a refurbished old airstrip promises to open up a new chapter in the socio- economic development of the Adansi area and the country as a whole. It has a new terminal building with a control tower for flight information service, fencing, fire station, meteorological equipment, aerodrome markings and other essential ground aids to enhance the safety of flights.
