ALERT: Rain and Thunder Sweeping Across Southern Ghana
Eastern, Ashanti, Volta, Oti
A rain-bearing cloud is currently sweeping across the Volta, Oti, and Eastern regions, bringing rainfall of varying intensity, thunder, and occasional strong winds. The system is actively moving and is forecast to extend into portions of the Ashanti, Bono East, and Bono regions, with isolated areas in the Savannah and Northern regions also likely to feel its effects. The storm is presently centred around Ho, Peki, Donkorkrom, Akosombo, and their surrounding communities. Between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM, it is expected to push further into Koforidua, Begoro, Kibi, Kwame Danso, Atebubu, Kpandai, Salaga, Juaben, Ejura, Kumasi, Dodowa, and nearby areas. Parts of the Ahafo and Western regions are also anticipated to be affected.
Residents in all affected communities are strongly advised to stay indoors and avoid open areas during the event. Motorists should reduce speed, switch on headlights, and exercise extreme caution on roads, as reduced visibility and surface flooding are likely. Parents and guardians are urged to ensure children are safely indoors before the storms arrive. Continue to monitor updates from the Ghana Meteorological Agency and your local disaster management authority.
