Helicity
Helicity is a vertical wind shear which aids the development of rotating thunderstorms in the lower troposphere. Helicity maps enable forecasters to identify the probability of thunderstorms occurring by analyzing the distribution and magnitude of helicity across the area. It measures the amount of rotation in a storm's updraft air.
