ALERT: Rainstorm Spreading across Southern Ghana

Event description

A rainstorm has engulfed the southeastern portion of Ghana, currently producing rainfall of varying intensity across the Volta and Eastern regions. The storm is expected to spread westward, extending its impact across the remainder of the Eastern region and into parts of the Greater Accra, Central, Ashanti, and Western regions. Significantly higher rainfall intensity is anticipated in and around Akroso, Akim Oda, Achiase, Dodowa, Amasaman, Bawjiase, Assin Bereku, Assin Fosu, Ayanfuri, Obuasi, Sefwi Bekwai, and their surrounding communities. The extreme coastal areas within the Greater Accra and Central regions are expected to experience relatively lower impact from this storm system. The Eastern and Greater Accra regions are expected to experience the effects of the storm between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The storm is then anticipated to reach the Central and Ashanti regions between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM, before extending further westward to impact the Western region after 8:00 PM.

Residents across the affected regions are strongly advised to avoid low-lying and flood-prone areas.. Drivers should reduce speed, increase following distances, and exercise extreme caution on roads that may be slippery or waterlogged.
