Event Description

A moderate to heavy rainstorm observed over the border of Togo and Ghana is currently producing thunder with rain of varying intensity within the Volta region. The storm is expected to propagate westwards and affect more areas within southern Ghana this afternoon into the evening. The Volta, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions will be affected between now and 6:00 PM. The western side (Western, Central and parts of the Ashanti) is expected to experience similar conditions between 4:00 PM and 8:00PM.

Instructions

During the thunderstorm, stay indoors and away from windows, unplug electrical appliances to prevent damage from lightning strikes, and avoid using corded phones or electrical devices connected to outlets. If caught outdoors, seek substantial shelter immediately. Drivers should exercise extreme caution by reducing speed, using headlights for visibility, and avoiding flooded sections of roadway.
