Morning Rains over coastal Ghana

Southern Ghana

A rainstorm is currently engulfing the southeasern portion of the country. The storm is expected to cast cloudiness over the coast with a possibility of rain and thunder this morning. Areas within the Volta and Eastern regions are expected to experince rain of varying intensity this dawn to early morning hours. The Greater Accra and Central regions are also expected to experience similar conditions later in the morning before drifting to the western region. Cloudiness will dominate the day with occasional thunder and rains.

Residents in the affected areas should complete outdoor activities and secure loose items. During the thunderstorm, stay indoors and away from windows, unplug electrical appliances to prevent damage from lightning strikes, and avoid using corded phones or electrical devices connected to outlets. If caught outdoors, seek substantial shelter immediately and never take refuge under trees during lightning activity. Drivers should exercise extreme caution by reducing speed, using headlights for visibility, and avoiding flooded sections of roadway.
