Event description

A moderate rain and thunderstorm system currently over the Volta region is moving westward and expected to produce rain of varying intensity with thunder across multiple regions today. By 2:00 PM (14:00 UTC), the Eastern region and communities in Greater Accra including Dodowa, Ada, Sege, Ashaiman, Madina, Afienya, Oyarifa and surrounding areas will be affected before the storm drifts to western portions of Greater Accra. Instructions

Residents in the affected areas should complete outdoor activities and secure loose items. During the thunderstorm, stay indoors and away from windows, unplug electrical appliances to prevent damage from lightning strikes, and avoid using corded phones or electrical devices connected to outlets. If caught outdoors, seek substantial shelter immediately and never take refuge under trees during lightning activity. Drivers should exercise extreme caution by reducing speed, using headlights for visibility, and avoiding flooded sections of roadway.
