RAIN CLOUDS FROM TOGO APPROACHING VOLTA REGION

A moderate rain-bearing cloud system currently over southern Togo is moving westward and expected to affect the Volta region this evening between 1600 and 2000 UTC. Communities including Ho, Dzodze, Ave Dakpa, Adaklu Waya, Kpetoe, Mafi Kumase, Akatsi, Kpeve, Peki, Vakpo, Amedzofe and surrounding areas should prepare for rainfall of varying intensity accompanied by thunder and lightning activity. The storm system is anticipated to bring periods of moderate to heavy downpours with potential for sudden weather changes as it moves through the region during the late afternoon and early evening hours.

Residents in the affected areas should complete outdoor activities and secure loose items. During the thunderstorm, stay indoors and away from windows, unplug electrical appliances to prevent damage from lightning strikes, and avoid using corded phones or electrical devices connected to outlets. If caught outdoors, seek substantial shelter immediately and never take refuge under trees during lightning activity. Drivers should exercise extreme caution by reducing speed, using headlights for visibility, and avoiding flooded sections of roadway.
