Rains over coastal Ghana

A moderate rain bearing cloud currently over the coast of the Volta region and drifting westward is expected to produce rain along the coast this evening. Varying intensity of rainfall is anticipated within the Volta, Greater Accra and parts of the Central region tonight.

Residents in the affected areas should avoid outdoor activities. During the thunderstorm, stay indoors and away from windows, unplug electrical appliances to prevent damage from lightning strikes, and avoid using corded phones or electrical devices connected to outlets. If caught outdoors, seek substantial shelter immediately and never take refuge under trees during lightning activity. Drivers should exercise extreme caution by reducing speed, using headlights for visibility, and avoiding flooded sections of roadway
