Event Description
The rainstorm captured in the earlier alert has already engulfed the Oti, Volta and Northern regions. This storm is expected to continue producing moderate to heavy rains within these regions. The storm is expected to drift westward to affect Bono East, Savannah, Bono, Ashanti, Eastern, and Western north regions this evening into the night.
Instructions
Residents in the affected areas should immediately secure loose outdoor items, close all windows and doors. If at home during the storm, stay indoors away from windows, avoid using electrical appliances during lightning, and monitor weather updates via radio or the website of Ghana Meteorological Agency (www.meteo.gov.gh). Those traveling should postpone non-essential journeys; if driving is absolutely necessary, reduce speed significantly, use headlights even during daylight, and never attempt to cross flooded roadways. Prepare for possible localized flooding and keep emergency contact numbers readily available.
A separate rainstorm engulfing the Upper East and Northeast regions is also expected to move westwards to affect more areas within the regions as well as the Upper West region this evening.
