Thunderstorms approaching Southern Ghana

A rainstorm has been observed over the coast of Benin and Togo. This storm is expected to move westwards into Ghana later this afternoon into the evening. Areas within the Volta, Eastern and Oti regions are expected to experience moderate to heavy rains with thunder and occasional gusty winds. Ahead of the storm, there are cloudy conditions in these regions which are likely to produce slight to moderate rain before the arrival of the storm.

Residents in the affected areas should avoid outdoor activities. During the thunderstorm, stay indoors and away from windows, unplug electrical appliances to prevent damage from lightning strikes, and avoid using corded phones or electrical devices connected to outlets. If caught outdoors, seek substantial shelter immediately and never take refuge under trees during lightning activity. Drivers should exercise extreme caution by reducing speed, using headlights for visibility, and avoiding flooded sections of roadway
