Weather Alert for Northern Ghana

Upper West , Upper East , Northern East

Rain and thunder clouds have engulfed the Upper West region of the country this morning. Wa, Nadowli, Kaleo and surroundings are experiencing rain of varying intensity. This is expected to spread to more areas within the region this morning. A separate rainstorm has also been observed over northern Benin approaching Ghana. This storm is expected to continue its movement to the west to affect parts of the northern sector particularly within the Upper East and Northeast regions. Rain of varying intensity is expected within these regions later this morning into the afternoon.

Residents in this region should avoid outdoor activities in the evening. During the thunderstorm, stay indoors and away from windows, unplug electrical appliances to prevent damage from lightning strikes, and avoid using corded phones or electrical devices connected to outlets. If caught outdoors, seek substantial shelter immediately. Drivers should exercise extreme caution by reducing speed, using headlights for visibility, and avoiding flooded sections of roadway
