Weather Alert: Rains anticipated over coastal Ghana

Area

Greater Accra , Aflao, Dzodze, Agbozume, Anloga, Keta, Akatsi

Event description

A moderate to heavy rainstorm currently observed over the coast of Togo and stretching to the Gulf of Guinea is expected to continue moving westward, producing moderate to heavy rainfall along the east coast. The Volta region will be affected first, with Aflao, Keta, Anloga, and surrounding areas anticipated to experience the storm between 9 PM and 11 PM, before it drifts toward the Greater Accra region. Within Greater Accra, low clouds ahead of the storm are already producing rain around Afienya, Ashaiman, Tema, Abokobi, Dodowa, Adjen Kotoku, and surrounding areas, and these conditions coupled with the approaching storm are expected to spread to more areas across the region, bringing rainfall of varying intensity tonight.

Instructions

During the thunderstorm, stay indoors and away from windows, unplug electrical appliances to prevent damage from lightning strikes, and avoid using corded phones or electrical devices connected to outlets. If caught outdoors, seek substantial shelter immediately. Drivers should exercise extreme caution by reducing speed, using headlights for visibility, and avoiding flooded sections of roadway
