Weather Alert: Thunderstorms Anticipated over Southern Ghana

A moderate to heavy rainstorm observed over the southern border of Ghana and Togo is approaching the country. This storm is expected to drift westwards to produce rain of varying intensity within the Volta, Eastern, Greater Accra and Central regions. Local developments of rain clouds are already observed within the Western region. These clouds are also expected to produce rain with thunder with the region. Zipe, Ave Dakpa, Agbozume, Akatsi, Mafi kumase, Adidome, Tarkwa, Wassa Akropong, Samreboi and surroundings are expected to be affected between 3:00PM and 6:00Pm. Ada, Sege, Ho and environs are also expected to experience these conditions betwen 4:00PM and 7:00PM. Somanya, Dodowa, Afienya, MAdina, Aburi, Amasaman and surroundings are expected to be affected between 5:00PM and 9:00PM.

During the thunderstorm, stay indoors and away from windows, unplug electrical appliances to prevent damage from lightning strikes, and avoid using corded phones or electrical devices connected to outlets. If caught outdoors, seek substantial shelter immediately. Drivers should exercise extreme caution by reducing speed, using headlights for visibility, and avoiding flooded sections of roadway.
