Ghana Meteorological Agency Boosts Climate Data Analysis Capabilities with Specialized Training

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has successfully concluded a comprehensive training program designed to enhance the climate data analysis skills of its staff. The program, held at the National Banking College in Accra from August 6-15, 2024, focused on equipping participants with advanced skills in data preparation, quality control, data visualization, and data set merging.
This training is expected to significantly improve GMet's capacity to analyze and interpret climate data, leading to more accurate weather forecasting and climate change adaptation strategies.
A Collaborative Effort
Dr. Eric Asuman, Acting Director-General of GMet, expressed gratitude to the Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) and the International Research Institute for Water and Climate (IRI) for their instrumental role in making this training program possible. The initiative was spearheaded by IRI as part of AICCRA's broader project to enhance climate resilience across Africa.
