The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) held its Mid-Year Staff Durbar at the Agency's headquarters in Accra on Friday, July 31, 2026, bringing together staff from the Headquarters, the Accra International Airport Meteorological Office (AIAMO), the Tema Office, and Regional and District Offices, many of whom joined virtually.

The durbar served as an important platform for Management and staff to review the Agency's performance for the first half of the year, share updates on key institutional matters, and engage in constructive dialogue to shape the direction of the Agency for the remainder of the year.

Delivering the welcome address, the Deputy Director-General in charge of Operations Dr. Ignatius Kweku Williams warmly welcomed staff to the Mid-Year Staff Durbar. He explained that the durbar forms part of Management's commitment to promoting accountability, transparency, and effective communication within the Agency.

He noted that the essence of the durbar is to provide an opportunity for Management and staff to interact openly, share information on the Agency's activities and priorities, and solicit feedback from staff to support informed decision-making and the effective planning of the Agency's programmes and activities.

The day's programme featured a Mid-Year Review during which Management provided updates on key institutional matters, including the CAFO Block project, the development of the Conditions of Service, the ongoing migration process, operational issues, the GCCA non-compliance concerns, and progress on the GMet Bill.

Management also outlined its expectations for the second half of the year, focusing on initiatives such as rent administration, staff rationalization, the Human Resource Audit, and other strategic interventions aimed at improving organizational efficiency and service delivery.

The durbar also featured the introduction of the Agency's Gender Focal Person, who shared remarks on promoting gender equality and fostering an inclusive workplace.

During the interactive session, staff had the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification, and share concerns on issues affecting their work and welfare. Management responded to the concerns raised and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open dialogue and implementing practical measures to improve staff welfare and strengthen institutional performance.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Williams thanked staff for their active participation and valuable contributions. He encouraged all staff to continue working together in unity, remain committed to the Agency's mandate, and support Management's efforts to advance GMet's strategic objectives for the benefit of the nation.
