GMet Bids Farewell to 2024/2025 National Service Personnel, Emphasizes Attitude, Branding and Networks

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) on Friday 29th August, 2025 held a closing ceremony to appreciate the 2024/2025 cohort of National Service Personnel (NSPs), gathering reflections on their year of service and offering guidance for the next stage of their careers.
Opening the event, Director-General Dr. Eric Asuman framed national service as a deliberate transition from school to work and, in effect, a year-long interview. He underscored that beyond technical ability, the conduct NSPs display during service often determines future opportunities within the Agency. He also acknowledged that management could have engaged the cohort more closely and pledged personal improvement in knowing and mentoring young staff.
Deputy Director-General Mrs. Vivian Abla Kally urged the outgoing personnel to value humility, diligence and readiness to learn, noting that seemingly small, routine tasks build competence and confidence over time. She encouraged them to stay open to opportunities, volunteer where appropriate and focus on steady growth rather than immediate high-paying roles.
Throughout the ceremony, NSPs shared experiences from their postings what worked well, what could be strengthened, and how processes might be streamlined for the next batch. Management welcomed the feedback and noted recurring themes around deeper engagement, more structured touchpoints during the service year and clearer pathways for high performers to be considered for future roles.
Closing the event, leadership thanked the cohort for their year of service and indicated plans to introduce more regular interactions with incoming NSPs, ensuring feedback is captured and acted upon earlier in the service cycle. The Agency expressed hope that the relationship with the 2024/2025 cohort will continue beyond the service year, with many expected to become strong ambassadors of GMet’s values in their future endeavors.
