GMet Commences Performance and Conflict Management Training for Unit Heads, Regional, and District Officers

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has commenced a training programme on Performance Management and Conflict Management for Unit Heads, Regional, and District Officers in Accra.
The three-day training, which commenced on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, is aimed at equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills to enhance performance, manage workplace challenges, and foster more effective teams.
The training is also intended to strengthen participants’ understanding of performance management as a tool for setting realistic targets, tracking progress, improving accountability, and ensuring that individual and team efforts are aligned with the Agency’s organisational objectives.
Delivering the opening remarks, the Deputy Director General, Operations, Dr. Ignatius Kweku Williams, urged participants to take the training seriously and make practical use of the knowledge and skills gained. He noted that a similar engagement previously undertaken by management had been an eye-opening experience and emphasised the need for a more deliberate and realistic approach to managing and tracking performance.
Dr. Williams stressed that performance management should go beyond routine administrative processes and serve as a practical mechanism for monitoring progress, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that officers and units remain focused on delivering results.

The conflict management component of the programme will further equip participants with approaches for managing workplace challenges constructively, improving communication, addressing disagreements, and promoting positive working relationships.
The training forms part of GMet’s broader efforts to strengthen institutional and human resource capacity and promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and effective teamwork across the Agency.
The programme will continue through Thursday, 20 August 2026, with participants expected to apply the knowledge and practical tools gained to improve performance and effectively manage workplace challenges within their respective units.
