GMet Hosts NCA To Discuss Effective Weather Information Dissemination.
The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) on Thursday, 22nd May, 2025 welcomed a technical team from the National Communications Authority (NCA) as part of ongoing collaborative partnership under the Food Systems Resilience Programme (FSRP).
A key focus of this collaboration is the implementation of the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP), a standardized framework for issuing timely and reliable weather alerts.
The NCA team were taken through an overview of the Agency’s operations, data flow processes, and existing communication mechanisms.
The engagement provided an opportunity to explore how the telecommunications sector can support the real-time transmission of weather alerts, especially to farming communities in remote and vulnerable areas.
The Ghana Meteorological Agency remains committed to working closely with its partners to ensure that critical weather and climate information reaches all stakeholders, particularly those in the agriculture sector who depend on timely forecasts to guide their activities.
