Gmet Hosts Seasonal Forecasting Workshop On Agro-Hydro-Climate Characteristics Of The Main Rainfall Season In The Gulf Of Guinea Countries

The Ghana Meteorological Agency, under the auspices of the AGRHYMET Regional Center, hosted the Seasonal Forecasting Workshop on agro-hydro-climatic characteristics of the main rainfall season in the Gulf of Guinea countries from the 26th February to 1st March 2024. The first phase of the workshop was held at the Erata Hotel in East Legon, Accra.
In attendance at the opening ceremony were the Acting Director General of GMet Mr. Eric Asuman, Mr. Kamoru Abiodun Lawal, Climate Change Thematic Expert at CLIMSA from ACMAD and Dr. Abdou Ali, Head of Information and Research from AGRHYMET.
The Workshop which is funded by the Intra ACP-GFCS/ClimSA, FSRP and USAID Project brought together forty (40) participants from various national meteorological, hydrological services, river basin organizations of West Africa and Sahel and disaster risk reduction Agencies.
The objective of the workshop is to generate the seasonal weather outlook, engage stakeholders and strengthen the capacities of staff in NMHs to co-produce agro-hydro-climatic forecasts for disaster risk reduction and ensure wider dissemination and communication of climate information to stakeholders.
The final day of the forecasting workshop will take place on the 1st of March, 2024 at the Mensvic Hotel in Accra.
