The Director-General of the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet), Dr. Eric Asuman, has inaugurated a nine-member Disciplinary Committee to enhance institutional discipline, accountability, and effective governance within the Agency. The inauguration ceremony was held today, 6th August 2025, at the Agency’s headquarters in Accra.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Asuman emphasized the importance of establishing strong internal systems and structures to ensure GMet continues to meet its mandate and operate transparently as a public institution.

“Last week, we inaugurated a Projects and Contracts Committee to help manage the Agency’s projects more efficiently. Today, in the same vein, we have the opportunity to set up our Disciplinary Committee. For any organization to function properly and meet the expectations of citizens whose taxes are used to finance our operations public accountability is essential,” he stated.

He further noted that the formation of such committees reflects the Agency’s commitment to building a robust governance framework that supports professionalism, responsibility, and ethical conduct.

Dr. Asuman then officially inaugurated the committee and administered the oath of office to its members, charging them to uphold fairness, transparency, and due process in all disciplinary matters brought before them.

The newly inaugurated committee is chaired by Mrs. Vivian Abla Kally, who graciously accepted the responsibility and expressed her commitment to ensuring that the committee executes its mandate diligently.
