GMet Pays Courtesy Call on MEST to Strengthen Collaboration

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MEST) as part of efforts to deepen collaboration and strengthen institutional ties.

The visit provided an opportunity for GMet to formally introduce its operations to the Ministry, present the latest seasonal forecast, and explore potential areas for collaboration between the two institutions.

The GMet delegation was led by the Director-General, Dr. Eric Asuman, and included the Deputy Director in charge of Research and Applied Meteorology, Mrs. Francisca Martey. The team highlighted the agency’s critical role in providing weather and climate information for national planning, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable development.

The Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Hon. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, emphasized the relevance of the Ghana Meteorological Agency and its operations. He stressed the need for greater seriousness to be attached to the work of the Agency, citing its significant contribution to national resilience, particularly in the face of climate change.

Both parties expressed a strong commitment to sustained engagement and cooperation in promoting science-based solutions for environmental sustainability and national development.
