"Take the Knowledge Back and Impart It" – Dr. Ignatius Kweku Williams Charges Trainees
The Deputy Director General in charge of Operations at the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet), Dr. Ignatius Kweku Williams, has charged participants of the Aeronautical Meteorological Refresher Training Programme to take the knowledge and skills acquired during the training back to their respective units and share them with their colleagues.
He made the call at the closing ceremony of the five day programme, which ended on Friday, 4 September 2026. The training brought together aeronautical meteorological personnel from the Accra International Airport Meteorological Office and other airport meteorological offices across the country to refresh their technical knowledge, strengthen operational competencies and keep abreast of current developments in aeronautical meteorology.
The programme also provided a platform for participants to exchange operational experiences and discuss approaches to improving the delivery of aeronautical meteorological services, with emphasis on maintaining consistency and professionalism in operations.
Dr. Williams emphasised that the benefits of training should extend beyond the participants, as the knowledge gained should contribute to strengthening the capacity of colleagues and improving operations across the Agency.
“Whenever you are given an opportunity to undertake training, it is an opportunity to go back and impart that knowledge,” he said.
He also urged staff to take the Agency’s Aeronautical Weather Conference (AWC) sessions seriously and participate actively, noting their importance in building capacity and ensuring that personnel maintain a common level of competence. He further encouraged participants to make proper use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and understand the rationale behind established procedures.
The completion of the programme reinforces GMet’s commitment to continuous professional development, knowledge sharing and the strengthening of aeronautical meteorological operations across Ghana.
