There Is Reason For Optimisim – Ag. Dg Charges On WMD

The Ag. Director-General of the Ghana Meteorological Agency, Mr. Eric ASUMAN has charged participants at the 2024 World Meteorological Day Celebrations to be optimistic in the fight against climate change.

Speaking at the launch of the WMO/UNDP Weather Kids Initiative on 21st March 2024, the Ag. Director-General indicated that “there is a reason for optimism as generations unite to confront the challenges of climate change with young people leading the charge towards climate action.”

He added that initiatives such as the Green Climate Clubs and the Weather Kids Initiative by the WMO and UNDP will empower learners to understand the consequences of their choices on the environment and inspire continued education to address our climate change concerns.

A total of five (5) schools participated in the launch of the weather kids initiative which is targeted at mainstreaming the younger generation in the discussions on climate change so they can speak out as the most vulnerable group.
