The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet), in collaboration with KENTHOUSE Security Company, has commenced a five-day intensive security training program for all its security personnel drawn from the Agency’s Headquarters, Regional, and District Offices.

The training, which runs from Monday, 20th to Friday, 24th October 2025 at the GMet Conference Room, Headquarters, aims to build capacity and enhance the security preparedness of personnel to meet the evolving operational and institutional security demands of the Agency.

Delivering his opening remarks, the Acting Deputy Director-General (Operations), Dr. Ignatius Kweku Williams, reminded participants that although GMet is an operational institution, the Agency values every category of staff, including its security personnel. He emphasized the importance of professionalism and commitment to duty.

“We appreciate the work that you do, and if we cannot do everything for you, we must at least support you in ways that strengthen your performance. That is why we identified this security company to give you a refresher course. We want you to learn, to build your skills, and to improve. Be professional in what you do even in something as basic as being punctual, he stated”.

He cautioned against certain unprofessional habits observed in some regional and district offices, urging personnel to take the training as an opportunity to improve performance and attitudes on the job.

“This training was organized because of the feedback we received from you. It shows goodwill that we are willing to listen, to work with you, and to improve things together. The feedback you give after this program will also be important for how we plan going forward,” he said.

Participants shared their expectations, expressing optimism that the program would equip them with modern approaches to security management and enhance their ability to protect life, property, and information. Many also hoped to gain practical insights into emerging security technologies and situational awareness techniques relevant to their roles.
The program forms part of GMet’s continuous efforts to enhance institutional efficiency, ensure staff development, and maintain a safe operational environment across all its installations nationwide.
