Seasonal Forecasting Workshop On Agro-Hydro-Climate Characteristics Of The Main Rainfall Season In The Gulf Of Guinea Held

The Ghana Meteorological Agency has hosted experts from the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services of Benin, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Togo to discuss the Climate Outlook for the main rainfall season in the Gulf of Guinean Region.
The forum which started on 26th February 2024 and ended on 1st March 2024 also had participants from various parts of the country from river basin organizations, disaster risk Agencies, and climate centers.
Discussions at the pre-forum mainly focused on analysing weather data to co-produce and strengthen the capacity of participants on the techniques of analysis and characterization of Agro-hydro-climatic risks related to the main rainy season for the Gulf of Guinea countries.
At the main Forum on 1st March 2024, experts presented the results and forecast for the region to stakeholders and the general public.
The forecasts mainly captured the region's onset, intensity and cessation of the main rainfall season. Some recommendations were also offered to institutions and stakeholders that depend on the weather and rain for their primary activities.
The Forum was graced by Dr Samuel Antwi-Gyekye the Director of Research, Statistics and Information Management, representing the Minister of Communications and Digitalizations and Hon. George Amo, Board Chairman of the Ghana Meteorological Agency.
